Kelowna Yacht Club -Front of House Supervisor - Immediate Opening

 At our lakefront location in downtown Kelowna, we provide our members with top-quality moorage in Canada's largest fresh-water marina, members and guests with excellent food and beverage service, social events and opportunities to assist others in the community.  Kelowna Yacht Club has one of the best locations on the Okanagan Lake for catered events weddings, corporate meetings, and training.  Kelowna Yacht Club has been supporting boater education and safe, responsible enjoyment of Okanagan Lake since 1945.

 Position Summary
The primary focus of this position to provide leadership and direction for all front of house staff. The FOH Supervisor is responsible for the successful service, in accordance with the Club's high standards and under the direction of the FOH Manager.  As the key liaison position between members/guests and the Club, this position is responsible to ensure all staff are up to date with club communications and all  Policies.   Working with other team members, assist in developing a training plan and ensuring adherence to the plan to improve service. The successful applicant will be a self-starter and will be highly organized, demonstrate good judgment and strong leadership skills.

 Leadership & Administration

-  In conjunction with staff input provide recommendations for policies, systems and procedures changes for the efficient operation of the Member Lounge to the FOH Manager.
- As assigned by FOH Manager set up Member Lounge according to event function sheets, ensuring quality control of room setup, table settings and room cleanliness.
- Assign appropriate staff to ensure proper closing duties are performed, to include putting equipment away, turning off lights and closing and locking doors.
- Ensures that all club policies, including dress standard for department, are followed by staff.
Participate in departmental meetings to be able to ensure all FOH staff receive communications, or assign a staff member to perform these duties
- Under the direction of the FOH Manager assist with the maintaining appropriate levels of dining room supplies.  Conducts periodic inventories or china, linen, flatware, and glassware to ensure an appropriate stock level.
- Working to ensure the training program is adhered to, that staff are thoroughly trained and have a complete dedication to safety, security, and food sanitation.
- Ensures the proper maintenance of all dining room equipment and furnishings, reports any deficiencies to the Operation Manager
 

  Desired Skills and Experience 

-3+ years of Dining room supervision/management experience
-Experience in the Private Club culture is an asset
-Knowledge and passion for providing exceptional experience that elicit a "wow" response
-Strong negotiation skills to ensure member needs/expectations are met and exceeded while maximizing revenues and spotting up-sell opportunities
-Collaborate with team members and share information with other departments
-Ability to work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a busy environment
-Strong commitment to professional and responsive service with the ability to deal effectively and professionally with difficult individuals
-Communicates effectively, ensuring all details and related logistics are communicated to the appropriate individuals/departments 
-Proactively identify problems and innovates solutions to challenging situations
-Superior organizational skills to manage tight timelines and conflicting priorities
-Focused on delivering high levels of member service and responds to all inquiries/requests in a professional manner and with a sense of urgency
-Strong working knowledge of hospitality industry practices, methods and techniques
-Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of members and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required
-Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills
-Advanced computer proficiency Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point), email/internet and membership database programs (Jonas)
-Able to maintain confidentiality/privacy of information
-Full time hours to meet business demands  Flexibility required to work evenings, weekends and public holidays/event days
 

Full-time Positions are eligible for Extended Medical Benefits upon completion of 3 months of employment, as well as accrued vacation.
