Public Space & Maintenance Attendant – Immediate Opening

This is a full-time position at our lakefront location in downtown Kelowna, where we provide our members with top-quality moorage, food and beverage service, social events and opportunities to assist others in the community. A not-for-profit organization, Kelowna Yacht Club has been supporting boater education and safe, responsible enjoyment of Okanagan Lake since 1945.

Position Overview:

As a Public Space Attendant, you will deliver the highest quality of member service, ensuring that the waterfront, property and equipment are clean, functional and safe for the benefit of our members and staff. You will ensure that the Club, property and equipment are maintained and in good working order and well presented for the benefit of members and staff.

Duties include:

  • Maintenance and janitorial responsibilities
    Performs general maintenance of the Club's facilities and docks, including cleaning of surfaces, furnishings, floors and snow removal
  • Perform minor maintenance duties as required within scope of – painting, plumbing, snow removal, etc.
  • Clears and cleans waste containers and disposes refuse and recyclables in marked bins or designated areas
  • Move furniture and equipment as required in performance of duties
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Up-to-date knowledge of building maintenance practices, procedures and schedules regarding janitorial service contracts and related security systems and contracts; and other building requirements.
  • Customer service experience
  • Good interpersonal skills, friendly & courteous
  • Work effectively independently, as well as part of a team
  • Competent working with Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of WHMIS legislation and WorkSafe regulations
  • Marine environment experience will be an asset


Position Details

  • Permanent full-time
  • Primarily days & weekends however flexibility is required to address events and situations during evenings and public holidays/event days
